In trying to find more evidence of my ancestor William Reed's connection to Tarleton, I came upon a piece of historical fiction which was only published June this year, called "Traitor to the Crown: The Demon Redcoat" (description below). On this link is some of the text:

This is in the beginning of the book, and is obviously 'borrowed' from Patriot, because Tarleton is burning a church (empty in this case). But at that point in the book is when the character William Reed is introduced. In this case, Reed is a redcoat (which mine wasn't), but the coincidence is stunning.
Anyway, this book and others the author has done really looks like a cross between Patriot and Harry Potter, which leads me to believe he is a Jason Isaacs fan, in Ohio. So, I'm wondering if he is on any of our groups, or if anyone here is aware of him and his books? If he wants to email me privately, I promise not to divulge anything! I just think it's amazing what I found.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
TRAITOR TO THE CROWN: THE DEMON REDCOAT
The War of Independence appears to have no end in sight. Discouraged by the bloodshed and suffering their magic can do nothing to prevent, Proctor and his wife, Deborah, dream of starting a family. But when Deborah gives birth, a powerful demon called Balfri, summoned by the secret society of European witches known as the Covenant, tries to possess the child. Though the attack in unsuccessful, it makes Proctor and Deborah realize that there can be no safety for them, or for anyone, until the Covenant is destroyed.
With the help of such patriots as Benjamin Franklin and John Adams, Proctor embarks on a desperate journey to take the fight to the heart of the Covenant's power: Europe. There he will uncover a dark, necromantic design of chillingly vast proportions. Meanwhile, back in America, Deborah will face Balfri again-only this time the demon will have the whole British army to command.
